Guffey and Dawes
Tara Larae Guffey and Gregory David Dawes announce their engagement.
The future bride is the daughter of Paula Guffey and Ogene Johnson, Perry. She is a 1998 graduate of Eudora High School and is a secretary for Answer Topeka.
The future groom is the son of Arlene and the late David Dawes, San Jose, Calif. He is a 1997 graduate of Leland High School in San Jose and he is a server at Applebee’s.
The couple plan a Nov. 15, 2009, wedding at Danforth Chapel followed by a reception at the Van Go Art Center in Lawrence.

What do you think about a proposed ban on smoking in public places such as restaurants, bars and workplaces?
As much as I hate government interfering with our lives, I love the smoking ban. Going out in Lawrence is so nice without smelling cigarette smoke at your table while eating.
