Kenneth Rankin

Services for Kenneth P. Rankin, 93, Eudora, will be at 2 p.m. today at D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Johnson County Funeral Chapel, Overland Park. Burial will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park.

Mr. Rankin died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at Eudora Nursing Center.

He was born July 3, 1907, in Alva, Okla., the son of H.I. and Maude Rankin. He earned a bachelor`s degree in liberal arts and a master`s degree in entomology from Kansas University and was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity.

Mr. Rankin was a longtime federal government employee, having worked last for the Federal Aviation Administration before retiring in 1965. He was a member of the Shawnee Mission School Board, was a 32nd degree Mason and was an elder and 52-year member of the Overland Park Presbyterian Church.

He served on the boards of Cedar Manor and the United Way. He had been named the Kappa Sigma Man of the Year and was inducted into the fraternity`s hall of fame in 1994.

He married Josephine Edmonds in 1935 in Lawrence. She survives of the Eudora Nursing Center.

Other survivors include two sons, Phil Rankin, Lawrence, and Gary Rankin, Oklahoma City; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Kansas University Endowment Association, P.O. box 928, Lawrence, or the Kappa Sigma Gamma Omicron Educational Foundation, sent in care of D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park 66210.
