Alvie “Bud” Guy
Funeral services for Alvie H. "Bud" Guy, 87, Eudora, were held Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence. Graveside services were held later at McKee Cemetery, Columbus.
Mr. Guy died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at Eudora Nursing Center.
He was born May 25, 1913, in Cherokee County, the son of Nicholas H. and Lottie A. Young Guy. He worked for Boyd Bros. Coal Company, Columbus, until he moved to Lawrence in 1952. He worked for Constant Construction for a short time, then went to work for CFCA (Farmland Industries) in 1952 until his retirement in 1975. He moved from Lawrence to Eudora in 1996.
He was a member of the First Christian Church, the Sons of the American Revolution (S.A.R.), and the Oil Chemist and Atomic Workers International Union Local No. 5-613, all of Lawrence.
He married Ruth A. Patch on June 8, 1932, in Columbus, Kan. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, James L. Guy, Eudora, Norman R. "Jack" Guy, Basehor, and John R. Guy, Lawrence; a daughter, Norma M. "Jill" Johnson, Eudora; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
A son, Alvie J. Guy Jr., died in1941.
