William G. Moorhead

1919-2001

Memorial services for William G. "Bill" Moorhead, 81, Lawrence, were Wednesday, April 4, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lawrence. Private graveside services were held at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Moorhead died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 13, 1919, in Chickasaw County, Iowa, the son of Robert A. and Myra (Gray) Moorhead. He moved to Lawrence in 1955 from Eudora.

Mr. Moorhead was a fiscal officer and contract administrator for the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant near DeSoto from 1951 to 1979.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

He married Antonia Winter on Sept. 1, 1946, in Scotland, S.D. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, the Rev. William G. IV, Omaha, Neb., and Jon D., Buena Vista, Colo.; a sister, Gwen Moorhead, Elk River, Minn.; and three grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Immanuel Lutheran Church, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
