Child injured in accident
An eight-year-old Eudora boy is in the hospital after being run over by a dune buggy.
Eudora Police Chief Bill Long said the boy, Eudora resident Tyler Frazier, was taken by helicopter to Children's Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, Mo., on Sunday after sustaining injuries to his back. Children's Mercy Hospital reported that Frazier was in fair condition Monday night.
Long said the boy was running alongside a dune buggy being pulled by a 1985 Ford pickup around 6:30 p.m. in Grandview Trailer Court. The boy was helping push the dune buggy when he tripped and was struck by the vehicle's rear wheel.
The truck was driven by 31-year-old Eudora resident Charles Wood, Long said. No citations were issued.
Eudora Emergency Medical Services took Frazier to a Kerr Field at 10th and Elm streets, where he was picked up by Life Net, an air ambulance service and flown to Children's Mercy Hospital.
Douglas County Fire and Medical Services and the Eudora Fire Department were also on hand for the incident.
