Boys win at Perry Lecompton
The Eudora High School boys track team finished first with 151 points at a meet Tuesday night at Perry-Lecompton. The girls finished third with 111 points.
The boys earned five first-place finishes and nine second-place finishes.
Junior Cody Lauber threw the javelin 167 feet, 3 inches for a first-place finish.
Senior Aaron Slavin also walked away with a gold in the 1600-meter run. He ran the distance in 4:55.9. The 4x100-meter relay team, composed of Josh Bowser, Zac
Tyler, Lauber and Seth Mullis, ran the relay in 45.2 seconds for first. Senior Brian Harris was first in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.57. The thrower's relay also was first in 47.67.
Junior Nate Cleveland vaulted 11-6 for second place in the pole vault. Junior Brett Becker got second in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.7 seconds. Tyler ran the 400-meter in 52.1 seconds for second. He also was second in the 200-meter dash in 23.6. Becker was also second in the 300-meter hurdles with 42.76. Slavin was second in the 800-meter run in 2:09.4. Krumbach took second in the 3200-meter run with a time of 11:29.9. The 4x400-meter relay team with Tyler, Harris, Becker and Slavin, ran the relay in 3:33.4 for second.
The girls finished first in three events. Sophomore Jenny Durkin jump 5-5 in the high jump. Junior Brandi Abel jumped 31-6.75 in the triple. The thrower's relay team also finished first in 1:03.9.
There were also several second-place finished for the girls 92-2. Rachel Abel ran the 100-meter in 13.2. The 4x100-meter relay squad ran the race in 54.6. Jill Abel ran the 3200-meter in 4:20.3.
