Services for Gerald "Jerry" R. Campbell, 61, Olathe, were held Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Olathe where the family received.
Mr. Campbell died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, in LaCrosse, Wis.
He was born on Nov. 8, 1939, in Holton, Kan., and lived in Olathe the past 20 years. He is a 1957 graduate of Eudora High School in Eudora, Kan. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas in 1967. He has been an insurance claims adjuster for the past 34 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Olathe. He was Scoutmaster of Troop 83 for many years and then became unit commissioner for Boy Scouts of America.
He received the following awards and honors as a Boy Scout: District Award of Merit, Scout Master of the Year, Silver Beaver, Vigil honor and Sachem in the Tribe of Mic-o-Say.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Donald Campbell.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Campbell, of the home; two sons, Gerald "Jerry too" Campbell of Hollywood, Fla., and Timothy and wife, Nancy Campbell, Port Orchard, Wash.; a daughter, Christine Allen, Topeka; his mother, Lorena, and husband, Winfred Abbott, Lawrence; two sisters, Virginia Bourgeault, Palm Bay, Fla., and Norma Jean Tornaden, Lawrence; a twin sister, Geraldine Coleman, Lawrence; and a granddaughter, Jenny Allen, of the home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Boy Scouts of America Camp Nash.
