Local man dies in rural Eudora
Authorities say injuries self-inflicted
A Eudora man died Aug. 9 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Officials originally believed Davy R. Knifong, 27, died of injuries incurred Wednesday night when his automobile hit several trees after going off the road near the intersection of East 2000 Road and North 1200 Road near Eudora.
Knifong's fiancee, Jillian Wohlgemuth, said he shot himself as he drove away from a friend's house, and said he suffered from depression. He died at Kansas University Medical Center, where he had been transported.
Wohlgemuth and Knifong shared a home in west Eudora. Knifong worked for Premiere Weed and Brush in De Soto. He had lived in Eudora since December of 1995.
The Eudora Assembly of God Church held a memorial service for him Aug. 14.
