Authorities scale back search; man eludes federal marshalls serving warrant
The Eudora police helped in the search for a man running from federal marshalls as they tried to serve him a warrant.
Cpl. Greg Neis was at the scene Aug. 20 since the pursuit began in Douglas County. He said two deputies tried to serve a Johnson County man a federal warrant. When he attempted to flee, a short vehicle pursuit ensued, Neis said, and ended when the man bailed out of the car near the county line. Authorities then began a search on land.
Neis said authorities quit looking for Douglas Linn Snowden, 48, about dark Monday.
"The dogs couldn't pick up a track because it's so dry," he said. Authorities will keep an eye on Snowden's hangouts, Neis said, since that's how they found him in the first place.
"There was a residence outside of town just inside the county lines where they'd kind of been watching," Neis said. "They'll stir him up again."
