Lucy I. Lambert-Messenheimer
Graveside services for Lucy Ivanilla Lambert-Messenheimer, 90, Lawrence, were Monday, Dec. 10, at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Lambert-Messenheimer died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at Eudora Nursing Center.
She was born Feb. 22, 1911, in Logan, the daughter of William Thomas and Geneva (Stanton) Pearson. She moved with her family to Lawrence in 1935.
Mrs. Lambert-Messenheimer worked at Lawrence Box Factory, Lawrence High School cafeteria, Grover Market and Hillcrest Acme cleaners.
She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, American War Mothers, Adah Chapter 7 of Order of the Eastern Star, White Shrine of Jerusalem Rebekah Lodge, American Red Cross and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She also volunteered at the Veterans Hospital, Leavenworth, for many years and worked on the local election board.
She married Elmer Lambert on Feb. 28, 1927, in Hill City. He died June 23, 1954. She married Glenn Messenheimer on April 21, 1957. He died June 25, 1986.
Survivors include a stepson, Henry Messenheimer, West Hollywood, Calif.; three grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
A son, Gerald G. Lambert, died Sept. 3, 1950. A daughter, Theora J. Reetz, died May 7, 1976.
The family suggests memorials to Shriner's Crippled Children's Transportation Fund or to the charity of the donor's choice.
