Emma E. Frye

Memorial services for Emma Elizabeth Frye, 89, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Inurnment will follow in Eudora Cemetery.

Mrs. Frye died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community, Lawrence.

She was born Oct. 10, 1911, in Linwood, the daughter of Leonard J. and Lula Mae (Blaker) Trapp.

Mrs. Frye had worked for Kansas University's athletics department as a cook and had owned and operated Chief Lunch Caf in Lawrence for a number of years.

She was a member of Eudora United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars women's auxiliary, Lawrence, and Extension Home Demonstration Unit, Eudora.

She married John Henry Frye in October 1935. He died in 1977.

Survivors include a son, Jack Henry Frye, Neosho Falls; four daughters, Margaret Davis and Mary Jo Hadl, both of Lawrence, Judy Hill, Lathrop, Mo., and Marilyn Klaasmeyer, Eudora; a brother, Leonard Frank Trapp, Camdenton, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the memorial services at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to Eudora United Methodist Church Building Fund, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence.
