Pyles celebrate 50th

Tom and Alberta Pyle, Eudora, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday with a Mass of Thanksgiving and renewal of vows at Holy Family Church, Eudora. A reception, buffet and dance followed at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Lawrence.

Alberta Schopper and Thomas R. Pyle met while she was a patient at a Kansas City hospital. Tom went to visit her roommate and met Alberta at that time.

They went on one date, but Tom had an accident on the way home and they lost touch for two years. They were reunited while Alberta was home visiting from college and were married several months later on Dec. 30, 1950, at the old Holy Family Catholic Church in Eudora.

Alberta's uncle, Father Henry Grosdidier, was the celebrant.

The couple have seven children, Joe Pyle, Rose Marie House, Bernadette Fulks, Thomas J. Pyle, and Roberta Lehmann, all of Eudora, and Edward Pyle and Patrick Pyle, both of Lenexa; and 33 grandchildren.
