Time to vote
Eudora voters will have plenty of choices on April 3 when they head to the polls to select school board, city council and mayoral candidates.
Incumbents Carlie Abel, Marion Johnson and Bob Rice will try to hold on to their positions on the Eudora School Board. Former board member Brenda Clark, along with newcomers Tracy Bowling and James Harris will also vie for the three available positions.
Four candidates have tossed their hats into the ring for two positions on the Eudora City Council.
Incumbent Rex Burkhardt will try to retain his position. Council member Pat Dardis' term was also up, but he chose not to run. In addition to Burkhardt, newcomer Doug Woods, former council member Beverly Koerner and Robin Ross are on the ballot.
Also, the city's top position is up for grabs. Mayor Fred Stewart will contend for the mayoral slot against former council member Ron Conner.
Eudora is divided into three voting precincts. The north Eudora precinct includes residents north of 10th Street, including the township, up to the Kansas River. The central Eudora precinct runs from 10th Street to 12th Street, west of Church Street and includes everything east of Church in the city limits to K-10 Highway. The south precienct includes the rest of the south side of town. Residents will cast their vote at the Eudora Township Firestation.
Results from the city election will be posted at www.eudoranews.com as information becomes available.
Voters in the north Eudora precinct will vote at Eudora City Hall, Seventh and Main streets. Central Eudora precinct voters will go to the Eudora Public Library, 114 East Ninth Street. South Eudora precinct voters will go to the Eudora Township Fire Department, 310 East 20th Street.
Residents of Leavenworth County, residing in USD No. 491 will vote at the North Eudora precinctEudora City Hall, 4 East. Seventh Street.
Polls will open Tuesday at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m.
