Memorial services for Edward Raymond Deckwa, 87, Eudora, were Wednesday, May 2, at Free Methodist Church, Lawrence. A private family inurement will be at a later date in Edgerton Cemetery, Edgerton.

Mr. Deckwa died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Eudora Nursing Center.

He was born June 28, 1914, in Clearfield, the son of Henry L. and Emma (Hausman) Deckwa.

He attended Clearfield Elementary and graduated from Eudora High School. He lived in the Clearfield and Edgerton areas before moving to Indianapolis for work. He returned to Edgerton and moved to Eudora 12 years ago.

Mr. Deckwa was a district service manager for Phillips 66 Company in Indianapolis for 26 years. After retiring, he drove a propane truck for the Farmer's Co-op in Edgerton and Lawrence.

Mr. Deckwa was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Lawrence, and Baldwin City Masonic Lodge.

He married Mabel Lorene Williams on June 12, 1938, in Edgerton. She died Oct. 5, 1990. An infant son, Frank Edward Deckwa, and a brother, Wesley Deckwa, also died earlier.

Survivors include a son, David Deckwa, Phoenix; two daughters, Susan Adams and Lois Groh, both of Lawrence; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Eudora Nursing Center or O'Connell Youth Ranch, Lawrence, sent in care of Bruce Funeral Home, P.O. Box 192, Gardner 66030.
