EHS basketball coach returns to Topeka
Eudora High School basketball coach Chad Eshbaugh has gone from Cardinal to Charger.
Eshbaugh, who coached Eudora to a 46-40 record over his four year tenure and a 14-8 record last season, resigned from the program to coach in his hometown at Topeka West High School.
"It was a difficult decision," Eshbaugh said. "My family is from Topeka and I wanted to go closer to home. This is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do and I will miss the day to day association with the (Eudora) students."
Eshbaugh said he will take several fond memories of Cardinal basketball with him as he leaves Eudora High School.
"Winning the Tonganoxie tournament against Van Horn (of Independence, Mo.) was a script straight out of (the movie) 'Hooisers'," Eshbaugh said. "And beating Oskaloosa with one tenth of a second left on the clock was also great."
A government and world geography teacher at Eudora, Eshbaugh will begin teaching at Topeka West next season.
Eshbaugh played high school basketball at Topeka Seaman High School before competing at the collegiate level for Allen County Community College in Iola. and Fort Hays State University. He graduated from Washburn University in Topeka.
