LeRoy S. Parsons

Graveside services for LeRoy S. Parsons, 77, Baldwin, were Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors by Alford-Clark Post No. 852 of the VFW.

Mr. Parsons died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 14, 1924, in Vinland, the son of Walter Stillman and Sadie Violet (Joy) Parsons.

Mr. Parsons grew up in Vinland and attended Harmony Schools. He served as an U.S. Army paratrooper in World War II and worked at FMC for 33 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and the Eagles Lodge.

He married Esther Mae Tingle on Nov. 12, 1946, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Steven Parsons, Parkville, Mo.; three daughters, Karen Parsons, Eudora, Linda Reno, Denver, and Nancy Parsons, Kirkland, Wash.; three sisters, Ruth Schellbar, Lawrence, Dorothy Brown, Marshalltown, Iowa, and Mildred Kirk, Tulsa, Okla.; and nine grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Alford-Clark Post No. 852 of the VFW and the Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 of the American Legion, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
