Robert E. Stalkfleet

Military graveside services for Robert E. "Chopper" Stalkfleet, 74, Lawrence, were Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Stalkfleet died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at his home.

He was born Dec. 31, 1927, in Lawrence, the son of Harry and Mabel (Corbin) Stalkfleet.

Mr. Stalkfleet served in the U.S. Army in occupational duty in Japan during World War II and served five years in the light truck and motor pool. He worked as a pipefitter for Local Union No. 763 and was a member of Mount Oread Aerie No. 309, FOE, Alford-Clarke Post No. 856, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Lawrence, Eudora United Methodist Church and Perkins Coffee Club.

He married Freda Colleen Shutt on May 28, 1949, in Topeka. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Ronald Stalkfleet, Perry, and Donald Stalkfleet, Oskaloosa; four grandsons; a stepgrandson; and three great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Wildcare Wildlife Rehabilitation, sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
