Donald D. Decker
Services for Donald D. Decker, 53, rural Valley Falls, were Tuesday, Dec. 24, at First Christian Church of Valley Falls. Burial was in Spring Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Decker died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at a Topeka hospital after an apparent heart attack.
He was born March 10, 1949, in Topeka, the son of Howard Melvin and Ruth Lorena (Slaughter) Decker. He graduated from Eudora High School in 1968. He had lived in rural Valley Falls for 25 years.
Mr. Decker was a welder for many years for Con Agra Company in Atchison. He retired in 1990. He was an ordained minister and served as jail minister in Jefferson County since 1996.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Valley Falls.
He married Leah Kay Werst Aug. 2, 1997, in Winchester. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Daniel David Decker, Pittsburg; two daughters, Veronica Lynn Shanks and Dalyn Dee Holt, both of Pittsburg; two brothers, Gary Paul Decker, Fort Worth, Texas, and Howard Dean Decker, Van Wert, Ohio; and six grandchildren.
