Memorial services for Celia Janice Wichman, 90, Ottawa, will be at 3 p.m., Friday, Jan. 18, at Dengel and Son Mortuary, Ottawa. She was cremated. Private inurnment services will be at a later date.

Mrs. Wichman died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002 at her home.

She was born Dec. 13, 1911, in Ottawa, the daughter of Fred Houston and Ethel G. (Goodin) McCune. She was a lifelong Franklin County resident and lived most of her life in the Ottawa and Peoria areas.

Mrs. Wichman graduated from Ottawa High School in 1930 and from Ottawa Business college in 1932. She also attended Kansas University.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Ottawa, Evangelical United Brethren Church, Peoria, Ottawa Senior Club, and belonged to, and was responsible for naming, the Peoria Plodders Home Extension Unit. She also attended the Ottawa Senior Center.

She married Lewis Heinrich Wichman on May 1, 1938, in Ottawa. He died May 5, 1989.

Survivors include two sons, Duane Wichman, Lenexa, and Mac Wichman, Lynnwood, Wash.; a daughter, Carol Cole, Ottawa; and three grandchildren.

A twin sister, Rachel Rakestraw, and a brother, Jesse Goodin McCune, preceded her in death.

The family suggests memorials to the Ottawa Senior Center and Midland Hospice, sent in care of Dengel and Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa 66067.
