Claud R. Jordan
Services for Claud R. "Shorty" Jordan, 93, Eudora, were Wednesday, Jan. 1, at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel, De Soto. Burial was in De Soto Cemetery.
Mr. Jordan died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 12, 1909, in Green County, Mo., near Joplin, the son of Andrew and Maggie Cox Jordan.
He was a lightweight boxer and worked on a Missouri River barge in Kansas City. He also worked for 16 years at Hercules Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant and owned and operated Jordan Market and Mobile Park in Baldwin. He and his wife had a winter home in Mission, Texas for 20 years.
Mr. Jordan was a member of the Eudora First Southern Baptist Church. He was also a member of Palmyra Masonic Lodge No. 23 since 1962.
He married Elva Irene Beamon June 20, 1934. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Claudia Darlene Randel, Eudora, and Shirley A. Cummings, Olathe; a son, Raymond L. Jordan, McLouth; a sister, Mattie Myers, Sacramento, Calif.; a brother Alfred Jordan, Grandview, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
