Services for James E. Dankenbring, 45, Lawrence, were Monday, Jan. 27, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Dankenbring died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 12, 1957, in Lawrence, the son of Harlan Gene and Bonnie M. (Higgins) Dankenbring. He attended Lawrence public schools.
Mr. Dankenbring worked for Lawrence Paper Co., Lawrence Asphalt Improvement Co. and Lawrence Ready Mix. He owned and operated Dankenbring Trucking for 20 years until his death. He sponsored local charities and activities such as Toys for Tots and the Blue Jazz Festival.
He married Roxanne Rygmyr on Aug. 18, 1979, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Joel Thomas Dankenbring, of the home; a daughter, Ali Lyn Dankenbring, of the home; his mother, Lawrence; and a sister, Lisa Dankenbring-Galindo, Eudora.
The family suggests memorials to Dankenbring Children's Educational Fund, sent in care of the funeral home.

As much as I hate government interfering with our lives, I love the smoking ban. Going out in Lawrence is so nice without smelling cigarette smoke at your table while eating.
