Services for Loyd Ray Alumbaugh, 65, Lawrence, were Friday, June 27, at Lawrence Funeral Chapel. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Alumbaugh died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at his home.
He was born July 21, 1937, near Mountain Grove, Mo., the son of Ray Russell and Leona (Lathrom) Alumbaugh. He moved to Lawrence in 1965 from Tucson, Ariz.
Mr. Alumbaugh was self-employed in the construction and trucking industries. He had worked on missile silos in Arizona. He was a mechanic and was sponsored by Ford Motor Co. on the drag racing circuit. He was a member of Lawrence Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include a son, Lawrence R. Alumbaugh, Lawrence; a daughter, Raelynn Moon, Lawrence; his companion, Ruth Glass, of the home; a brother, David Alumbaugh, Lawrence; three sisters, Joetta Weaver and Rosetta Alumbaugh-Hansen, both of Lawrence, and Nina Smith, Eudora; and three grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Hospice, sent in care of the funeral home.
