Funeral services for Irene Ruth Donham, 85, Gardner, were Saturday, July 19, at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. Burial was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Stanley.
Mrs. Donham, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at Olathe Medical Center.
She was born April 30, 1918, in Eudora, the daughter of Edward and Agnes Keoller Mistele. She was a lifelong resident of the Gardner area.
Mrs. Donham graduated from Fairview Grade School in 1932. She graduated from Eudora High School in 1936 and attended two years at Central Business College.
She and her husband operated a dairy farm in Johnson County for 50 years. She also worked as a deputy clerk in the District Court of Johnson County. She then worked at the Sunflower Ammunition Plant in the purchasing department.
She was a member of Bethel Methodist Church, a charter member of the Docey Dandies Square Dance Club and a member of the Sunshine Club and Home Demonstration Unit.
Mrs. Donham served as secretary of the NEKS Horse Show Circuit, a member of the Mid America Dairy Association, sponsor and director of the Youth Horse Show at the Johnson County Fair, and was a 4-H leader for the Pioneer Club.
She married Elmer C. Donham March 15, 1942, in San Diego, Calif. He died Feb. 2, 1989.
Survivors include a son, Larry W. Donham, Olathe; two daughters, Joyce Donham, Lawrence, and Carol J. Hatfield, Gardner; and two grandchildren.
Her brothers, Edward Mistele, Victor Mistele, Glen Mistele and Wayne Mistele, preceded her in death.
