Baseball coaches, players and fans take the sport seriously, but in Greenfield, Ind., its really serious baseball during the National Baseball Congress “Hap” Dumont 15-and-under World Series. The Midwest Rebels arrived in Greenfield Friday for their debut in the tournament.

Eudora’s Andrew Pyle ended his high school football career in style Saturday at the 30th Annual Shrine Bowl. The Cardinal running back didn’t set any rushing records in the process, but he did represent his himself and his hometown well.
Gov. wants research role for Sunflower

Last Thursday, the governor signed a preliminary Finding of Suitability for Early Transfer for Sunflower while calling for the creation of a research park on the site. The governor and her staff had be studying the proposal since shortly after Sebelius took office in January.
City pursuing benefit district at relaxed pace after discussion

A public discussion meeting for residents affected by a proposed benefit district for street improvements near the Eudora Nursing Center will tentatively take place this fall.

Storm drainage work may be complete on Winchester Road and utilities may have been moved, but it looks doubtful the road would be complete by the time Eudora children start back to school next month.
