Letters

March 13, 2003

On Thursday, March 6, at 6:30 p.m., our family experienced what no family wants to experience: We had to call 911. Our dad's heart had stopped. We needed help, and fast. We needed medical assistance for him. Our dad could not wait for an ambulance to drive from Lawrence.
Thankfully, Eudora has an Emergency Medical Serivce unit here. The Eudora EMS and Eudora Police, plus Douglas County Police, were at our parents' house quickly. They were able to restart Dad's heart and provide the medical attention he needed.
The reason for this letter is to bring attention to those responsible for saving our dad's life. These men and women who volunteer to help our community do so because they care enough to get involved. Eudora should be thankful we have these EMS volunteers so that when we call 911 we know help is close by.
The doctors told our family that Dad was two or three minutes away from death. Our family is very lucky to have an EMS of the quality we have here in Eudora. The members of the Eudora EMS deserve the highest praise. They have earned it. Our dad is living proof.
