Newspapers strive to contribute to local dialogue

October 2, 2003

National Newspaper Week is Sunday through Oct. 11. The theme is "The Newspaper...A Nation Talking To Itself."
The Eudora News strives each week to be the communication link in Eudora. We try to link our readers to local community events, Eudora government, USD 491 school events, area churches and the business community.
Without a community newspaper, it is difficult for the public to get necessary information in a timely manner.
Newspapers contain information people can use every day -- news people depend on to become better citizens, consumers and participants in the community.
Because The News is a small-town newspaper, we seek input from our readers. Letters to the editor are always welcomed and encouraged. Our staff also welcomes suggestions or ideas for making Eudora's newspaper an even better link to the community.
Newspapers can only be produced if there is adequate support by subscribers and advertisers. Eudora has been supportive of its local newspaper. It is hoped that as new residents move here, they will also see the value in and the need to support the local paper.
During National Newspaper Week, The News staff would like to say thank you to those Eudorans who have supported us and communicated with us to help us continue to bring a vital link to Eudora.
