City Council names new rec director

Eudora has a new parks and recreation director, who will start Monday. At the Sept. 22 meeting, the Eudora City Council approved an appointment by Mayor Ron Conner to hire Robert Arnold Jr. for the position, which had been vacant since this summer.

The Cardinals took their undefeated record Tuesday back to Wellsville. Joining Eudora were Anderson County and Gardner-Edgerton. Eudora defeated Gardner-Edgerton 25-15, 25-15 and Wellsville 25-18, 25-20. The two match victories raised Eudora’s record to a gaudy 14-0.

Osawatomie team gives Cardinals a run for their money in 26-16 win

The Trojans (1-2) were supposed to be relatively harmless victims for the Cardinals (3-0). Last year Eudora made a remarkable run at the state championship while going 10-1. Osawatomie, on the other hand, struggled to a 4-6 record — including a 62-0 thumping at the hands of Louisburg in the bi-district playoffs.

The Eudora High School soccer team ended a season and a half of frustration Tuesday with its first-ever varsity win.

Only state sales tax will eliminate district’s burden

Clearly, the fairest way to finance education is through statewide taxes, which is charged by the Kansas Constitution to do just that. The biggest legacy of the sales tax initiative is that it might force the Legislature to shoulder that burden.

City eyes two lots near Prairie Estates for eastside park

A set of lots near the Prairie Estates neighborhood could become a Eudora park in the future. The city of Eudora is pursuing the possibility the nearly 16,000 square feet of city-owned property could be transformed into an eastside park.

The Cardinals won the boys team and individual championship and the girls team and individual championship. It was the first time since the Wellsville meet in 1999 that Eudora claimed a boys and girls team championship on the same day.
