Scott Russell and Darrin Kurtz are professional track athletes who will be throwing the turbojav in a world record attempt Monday at Laws Field. The competition is slated for 5 p.m., during the middle school’s track meet.

A pesky morning rain threatened to dampen the event, which had anticipated about 1,500 children. The rain shrunk that number to approximately 500 kids, but nevertheless the event carried on with success.
