E. Verne Moore

Services for E. Verne Moore, 91, Holton, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in Holton Cemetery.
Mr. Moore died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at a Holton care facility.
He was born April 19, 1913, in Larkinburg, the son of Frank and Mabel Scoville Moore. Mr. Moore attended Carbon Grade School and Holton High School. He was a lifelong resident of the Larkinburg and Holton communities.
He was a farmer and stockman except for a brief time when he worked at a defense plant in Bluffton, Ohio, during World War II.
Mr. Moore was a member of the Larkinburg Christian Church. He served on the ASCS Board in Holton for several years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Whiting and Netawaka and was also a member of the Shrine.
He married Rachel L. Cannon March 9, 1935, in Holton. She died Feb. 13, 2004.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Moore, Topeka; a daughter, JoAnn Becker, Eudora; a sister, Hazel Carlson, Huntington Beach, Calif.; a brother, Clyde Moore, Holton; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
A daughter, Karen Harshaw, died in 1980.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
