Jennie L. Gower
Services for Jennie Louise Gower, 79, Columbia, Mo., formerly of Louisiana, Mo., were Thursday, Jan. 15, at Collier Funeral Home, Louisiana.
Mrs. Gower died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at her home.
She was born July 25, 1924, in Walnut, the daughter of John and Frances George.
Mrs. Gower was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Louisiana, and Our Lady of Lourdes, Columbia. Other memberships included Lady's Altar Society, Trimble House Wednesday Morning Ladies Coffee Group, Louisiana, Missouri Coffee Mates, Pike County Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, American Cancer Society of Bowling Green, Mo.
She and her husband met during World War II while working for Hercules Inc., at the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant. They transferred with Hercules to Cumberland, Md., for five years then to Louisiana, Mo., where they lived for 38 years.
She married James H. Gower on Aug. 7, 1944, in Eudora. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include four sons, John Gower, Delaware, Ohio, Fred Gower, Olathe, Charles Gower, Bentonville, Ark., and Edward Gower, St. Joseph, Mo.; three daughters, Caroline Jane Maher and Cynthia Nixon, both of Columbia, Mo., and Jerri Richardson, Carthage, Mo.; a brother, Vincent George, Olathe; a sister, Esther Fox, Pittsburg; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
