Services for Marie Sommerville, 100, Lawrence, will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Lawrence Bible Chapel. Private burial will be Saturday in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Sommerville died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at Eudora Nursing Center.
She was born July 1, 1903, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Johann Jacob and Edith (Allsman) Altergott.
Mrs. Sommerville graduated from Kansas University with a bachelor of science degree in bacteriology. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Sommerville was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She was involved in the Spanish Reading Club at KU and was active in Christian Bible studies and at the Lawrence Bible Chapel.
She married William B. Sommerville on Oct. 23, 1925, in Kansas City, Mo. He died May 13, 1978.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Lyn Farwell, Lawrence, and Penelope Schoerner, Chicago; four sons, David Sommerville, Argentina, James Sommerville, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, John Sommerville, Gainesville, Fla., and Timothy Sommerville, Glendale, Ariz.; two sisters, Ruth Armstrong and Jeanne McKnight, both of Tyler, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A grandson died earlier.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lawrence Bible Chapel.
The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
