Services for Margaret Elizabeth Shouse, 84, Topeka, were Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at the Longton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ted D. Davis officiating. Burial was at the Longton Cemetery.
Mrs. Shouse died Friday, July 16, 2004, at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
She was born March 5, 1920, in Montgomery County, near Elk City, the daughter of Elmer Ellsworth and Rosie Mae Davis Davidson. She attended school and grew up in Montgomery and Chautauqua counties. She was a longtime resident of rural Longton.
She was employed at Weaver's Department Store in Lawrence for several years before she and her husband returned to their farm near Longton. She was later employed by Emerson Electric at Independence until her retirement.
She married Owen Otis Shouse on March 15, 1941, in Fredonia. He died Jan. 15, 2000.
Survivors include four daughters, Opal Trefethen and Barbara Spring, both of Eudora, Sandra Eshbaugh, Topeka, and Margaret Ann Bozeman, Parker, Colo.; a sister, Dorothy Brand, Mound Valley; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Three brothers, Dwight Davidson, Robert Davidson and Donald Davidson preceded her in death.
The family suggests memorials to the Longton Fair Association or the Longton Senior Center. They may be sent in care of Zimmerman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1233, Howard 67349.
