Public pool prepping to open
Things are looking up for the Eudora municipal swimming pool. Earlier this week, Parks and Recreation Director Bobby Arnold said most of the painting of the pool was complete and that crews looked to finish the inside Monday.
"I hope we can get it together," Arnold said. "There's a few more details, like cleaning out the drains and getting rid of some of the paint and buckets that are there."
Crews began filling the pool Tuesday.
Needed repairs, coupled with wet weather, held the pool back from the traditional Memorial Day weekend opening. Workers and volunteers have spent the spring bringing the pool to swimmer-ready condition.
When the pool was ready to open Arnold said patrons could look for signs at key intersections and elsewhere about town. He said swimming lessons could start as soon as Monday, with water aerobics classes scheduled for evenings this summer.
Brochures about the activities are available at Eudora City Hall, 4 E. Seventh St.
