Hardware store to open in Eudora

June 17, 2004

Eudora will soon be back in the hardware business.
John Durkin plans to open Durkin's Hardware in September, although that depends on the construction timeline at a new building on 20th Street.
The 6,000-square-foot storefront will house the neighborhood hardware store, which Durkin said would offer basic hardware supplies from plumbing tools to gardening items, as well as lawnmowers and barbecue accouterments.
A combination of market research and personal information led Durkin, who lives in Wichita, to open the store in his native Eudora.
Talking with his brother Dave Durkin, John Durkin said he learned of the need for a hardware store in Eudora. Arrowhead Hardware, located downtown, closed in 2001.
Durkin said the hardware store would employ several other workers.
