Community worship for Thanksgiving Sunday at UMC

The Eudora Ministerial Alliance will have its annual community Thanksgiving service at 7 p.m. Sunday at Eudora United Methodist Church, 703 Church St. The community is invited to attend. Those planning to attend are asked to bring non-perishable food items or monetary donations, which will be given to the ministerial alliance’s food pantry, housed at St. Paul United Church of Christ.

The Cardinals’ football season began with a Sept. 3 victory over Wellsville and ended with a disappointing loss to Topeka Hayden in the sectional match-up Nov. 12. Eudora ended the season as bi-district and regional champions and finished with an 8-4 record.

The Eudora Cardinals volleyball team (35-7) recently completed its most successful season in school history. Eudora set a school record with 35 wins en route to a sub-state championship. The Cardinals finished the season just a few points short of advancing to the state tournament’s final four.

For the second-consecutive season, the Eudora Cardinals football team ended its season with a lopsided playoff loss at home. A year ago Eudora was manhandled 43-18 by archrival Baldwin in bi-district play. And Friday night, Topeka-Hayden — the state’s top-ranked 4A team — toppled the Cardinals 42-6 in a sectional match-up at Laws Field.
