April 27, 2005

Eudora High School had its prom from 9 p.m. to midnight April 23 at the high school. The annual all-night prom event followed at the middle school.

The commons area at the high school was decorated in a Paris theme, complete with a huge replica of the Eiffel Tower.

After the dance ended, the students who planned to attend the all-night festivities had until 1 a.m. to arrive at the middle school, which was decorated in Hollywood style, complete with red carpet and students' names on stars that lined the "boulevard."

Parent volunteers helped decorate, prepare food and organize games and other activities that began at 1:15 a.m. Prizes, donated by local businesses, were given away every few minutes and games were played on the gym floor every 15 minutes. In addition, a Jacob's Ladder, an obstacle course and sumo wreslting gear were available.

At the conclusion of the event, each junior and senior had their name drawn and received a prize ranging in value from $25 to $200.

Sarah Braught was the grand prize winner of a 1992 Nissan Sentra, donated by Crown Chevrolet in Lawrence. Sixteen students were eligible to win the vehicle. The dealership's stipulations were that the student must be a senior who did not already have a car, and that the student must plan to attend college in the fall.
