Gregory S. Longbine

Funeral services for Gregory S. Longbine, 15, Emporia, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at the W.L. White Auditorium (Emporia Civic Auditorium), with Pastor Norbert Tegtmeier officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.

Gregory died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, as a result of injuries received in a one-vehicle accident in southwestern Lyon County.

He was born March 11, 1990, in Emporia, the son of Jeff and Gwen Yarnell Longbine.

Gregory was to be a sophomore at Emporia High school where he was a member of the football, basketball and golf teams. He was also a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Kansas Cougars basketball team.

Survivors include his parents, of the home; two sisters, Lauren Longbine and Lexie Longbine, both of the home; grandparents, Sue Longbine, Emporia, and Ervin and Lucille Yarnell, Eudora; and great-grandparents, Curtis and Zelda Yarnell, Stockton, Mo.

His grandfather, Rich Longbine, preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1101 Neosho St., Emporia.

The family requests no flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church or the Greg Longbine Memorial Fund for Emporia High School athletics, sent in care of the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, 605 State St., Emporia 66801.
