Girls rebound to end skid

The Eudora girls basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak Tuesday with a 62-49 win over Central Heights. The win came at just the right time as the Cardinals were blown out by Ottawa on Friday and lost a heartbreaker Monday against Wellsville. Eudora (6-11) helped its cause Tuesday by racing out to a 17-4 first- quarter lead.
Barr, Coffman earn firsts at Frontier League meet

The Cardinal wrestling squad continued to gear up for the 4A state regional tournament with two road trips last week. The team traveled to Paola Feb. 10 for a late season dual and then headed to Louisburg Saturday for the Frontier League tournament. Thursday’s match up pitted Eudora against its league rivals Baldwin and Paola. The outcome was less than what coach Bill DeWitt had hoped for.

A mere two weeks ago, the Eudora Cardinal boys basketball team had hit bottom. The team had just received the beating of the season in a 40-point loss at Sumner Academy and watched its losing streak grow to a dreary nine games. What a difference a few weeks have made. Since then Eudora has beaten three league opponents in five days, including Ottawa and Wellsville.

City Council will look for new administrator

The days of Mike Yanez and the city of Eudora are numbered. The Eudora City Council voted Monday to shorten the remainder of Yanez’s employment as city administrator from 60 days to 45 days. The count started when he submitted notice Feb. 8 that he would take a similar position with the city of Tonganoxie. His last day on the job will be March 24.
Chamber names mayor Citizen of the Year

Eudora Mayor Ron Conner was recognized Saturday as Eudora’s Citizen of the Year. The Eudora Chamber of Commerce bestowed the honor at its annual dinner.
Council OKs K-10 study

The Eudora City Council approved spending more than $14,000 to conduct a study of the area around Kansas Highway 10 and Winchester Road to determine the feasibility and possible location of the proposed interchange.
