Larry L. Baxter

Services for Larry L. Baxter, 53, De Soto, were Monday, June 20, at De Soto Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6654. Burial was in De Soto City Cemetery with military honors by the VFW Post No. 6654.
Mr. Baxter died Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at Olathe Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 25, 1951, in Sandusky, Mich., the son of Roy and Winifred Ford Baxter. He moved from Colorado to De Soto in 1989.
Mr. Baxter served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1970 to 1973 during the Vietnam War. He was a building inspector for the city of De Soto.
He was a captain with the De Soto Fire Department, Glaziers Union, Masons Lodge and De Soto VFW Post No. 6654.
He married Shirley Fanslow on Dec. 15, 1972. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Mike Baxter, Eudora, and Larry Baxter Jr., De Soto; three brothers, Jerry Baxter, Silverwood, Mich., Rex Baxter, Oxford, Mich., and Don Baxter, Kentucky; and five grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the VFW Building Fund, P.O. Box 54, De Soto 66018.
Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel, De Soto, was in charge of arrangements.
