Council one step closer to hiring administrator
Finding a replacement for City Administrator Mike Yanez won't be an easy task for the city of Eudora, but the City Council was one step closer after Monday's City Council meeting.
The Council voted to hire the League of Kansas Municipalities to conduct the search to find a replacement for Yanez, who is leaving his position in Eudora for a similar one in Tonganoxie. His last day working for Eudora will be March 24.
The City Council enlisted the help of the league when Yanez was hired as the city's first city administrator.
Among other things, the league will help the city create a job description, conduct a salary survey in similarly populated cities, assist in advertising and recommend candidates for interviews at a cost of $3,866 to the city.
League representative Mark Tomb said advertising would likely take at least 30 to 45 days before resumes should be reviewed.
"You do need enough time to have advertising work for you," he said.
The Council voted 4-1 to hire the league to assist in the city's search for a new city administrator. Councilman Scott Hopson's was the one dissenting vote.
