Lister, Ballock lead Cards at Snowball Relays
The Eudora track and field team began the 2005 season right at Tuesday's Snowball Relays in Wellsville.
In the field events, junior Carrie Lister was one of two double gold medalists on the girl's side. Lister took first in the shot put with a winning throw of 34 feet, six inches, while also taking first in the discus with a mark of 110-5. Junior Megan Ballock joined Lister by taking first in the 200-meter and 400 runs.
Sophomore Brittney Graff earned first place in the 3,200 with a time of 12:54.5.
The team of freshman Emily Ballock, junior Cara Seats, senior Johanna Rahmqvist and Megan Ballock took first in the 1,600 relay with a winning time of 4:28.8.
On the boy's side senior Brandan Helm took third in the shot put and discus, while senior Brendan Jackson took third in the javelin.
As a team the Cardinal girls finished the afternoon with a second-place finish with 127 overall points, while the boys finished sixth with 42.5.
Head coach Phil Katzenmeier was pleased with his teams' efforts.
"Almost everyone is ahead of where they were this time last year," he said. "It was a good showing for some of the younger kids at a varsity meet."
