Family needs community’s help
The home of Johnny and Cindy Born burned down May 14 around 4:30 p.m. They are my neighbors and great family friends. The fire devastated the entire community, friends, family and loved ones.
The children have lived in that house their entire lives. I grew up with the kids -- Jordan, Jenny, John and Julia. We were all great friends and have had a wonderful childhood together.
The Borns lost everything they had in that house. They had their entire lives in there. All of their pictures, which can never be brought back, of the kids when they were babies until they graduated from high school are all gone. They can never regain what they lost. They have their family, and I thank God they have each other.
No one was severely injured. Their son Jordan graduated Sunday from Free State High School and suffered minor burns from going inside to try to save their house. They had his graduation party at the home of their neighbors Kevin and Angie Hadl (instead of their own house where the celebration was originally planned to take place).
The Borns are a very close family, and they are family to me. I love them, and I would love to ask the community to help out and send donations to me for the Borns. I just want to ask everyone in the community, and even outside the community, to help this family. They really need us.
May God be with you.
