Lions express appreciation

October 20, 2005

The members of the Eudora Lions Club would like to express their appreciation to the residents of Eudora and surrounding communities for the generous donations to the Oct. 15 Candy Day Drive.

Lions Club members accepted donations at the Kwik Shop and along Main Street in exchange for rolls of candy. Proceeds from the project went to the Kansas Lions Sight Foundation and other local sight-related projects.

The Lions Club is also asking again that any bicycles not being used, or in need of repair, be donated to the club.

The Lions Club will deliver the bicycles to the Lansing Correctional Facility where the inmates will dismantle and rebuild the bicycles to like-new condition. Restored bicycles are then available to our community and distributed to needy families at no charge.

Anyone wanting to donate bicycles or bicycle parts to the project are asked to call Bob Slapar at 542-2315 or Tom Tucker at 542-3927. The bicycles can be picked up from area residences.
