UPDATE — Cardinals continue improved play, still fall 3-1
The Eudora soccer team lost 3-1 Thursday to Ottawa.
But the final score told only half the story of the game. Ottawa, a 5A school that rolled over the Cardinals earlier in the year, couldn't break away.
The Cyclones scored one in the first, then built a 3-0 in the second before Eudora offered a response. A shot bounded off the goalkeeprs right upright and was tapped toward the left side of the goal. Conner Hartpence ran up and plugged the easy goal in front just a couple feet out.
One goal to Ottawa's three, nevertheless it was seen as a game well played by Eudora. The Cardinals one their first game of the season, 2-0, Tuesday, and see the Ottawa game as another step toward the postseason.
"It's just completly different," Hartpence said of the team's attitude. "We want to make a run in regionals."
