Fast start allows revenge
April 13, 2006
Last season, the Louisburg Wildcats celebrated a regional championship and state berth over the Cardinals in their own backyard. As Eudora faced the Wildcats for the first time since that pivotal game, one thing was clear. The Cardinal softball players hadn’t forgotten.
Broers takes first in Topeka drag race event
April 13, 2006
Eudora resident Roger Broers outlasted a field of about 50 racers in the Sportsman class of the 2006 Heartland Park Topeka E.T. Drag Race Series April 8 in Topeka to claim the championship.
Rainy day shouldn’t factor at home meet
April 13, 2006
After a long drive to the Clay Center Invitational, the Eudora track team was looking forward to a good day of competition. The trip turned out to do little more than waste gas, however. Strong winds and a persistent rain canceled the event and the majority of Eudora’s athletes returned before they even had need to take off their warm-ups.
Griffin’s homers punch Cards past Spring Hill
April 13, 2006
In the midst of a great run a year ago, the Cardinals had one small blemish on an otherwise sparkling 2005 resume, a home loss to Spring Hill. That blemish may not have been a big deal on its own, but put together with the prior two years of baseball, it was a big deal for the Cardinals as it ran Spring Hill’s dominance of the series to three years.
Still perfect
Eudora uses power and pitching to stop two league rivals
April 13, 2006
If Eudora baseball coach Dirk Kinney had his way, every game his team played would start with the third inning instead of the first. Over the past four games, the Cardinals have gotten off slowly in the opening innings only to come alive later in the game.
The fly route
April 13, 2006
It happened on Opening Day and it happened during the second game. It stopped after the third. Really though, it’s been happening for years now. The Kansas City Royals fans appear to be on the brink of turning on team captain Mike Sweeney and I just can’t understand why.
Senior hopes skin condition becomes educational beacon for Eudora
April 13, 2006
Although she had no great affinity for basking in the sun, the time she spent outside helping run the dairy she and her husband, Norbert, owned was enough to bring out a spot on Margaret Grosdidier’s skin.
Fire chief search to heat up for fourth time
April 13, 2006
With Eudora City Council’s self-imposed two-month hiatus on the search for a new fire chief expired, Eudora City Administrator Cheryl Beatty took no time to suggest what she thinks the council should do next. It’s time to try again.

Walkways knit city together
April 13, 2006
Even after an unusually mild winter, these early April days seem like a gift. To be outside in the ever-present Kansas springtime breeze and taking in the pastel beauty of another growing season reborn brings a resurgence of energy and feeling of liberation after the harshness of winter.
