The celebration party for those who completed the summer reading program at the Eudora Public Library will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Lucy Kaegi Park, across from the Eudora swimming pool. Pizza and a drink will be provided, along with a certificate of completion.
Anyone unable to attend the party can pick up their certificate at the library.

Army Pvt. Paul D. McCleery graduated from the Light-Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic Advanced Individual Training course at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen, Md.
The course is designed to train soldiers to perform unit maintenance and recovery operations on gasoline and diesel fueled light-wheeled vehicles, including prime movers designated as five-ton or less and their associated trailers and associated items.
Soldiers were trained to perform maintenance and recovery operations on track and heavy-wheeled vehicles, and on material handling equipment; maintain power assisted brake systems, vehicle suspension systems, wheel/hub assemblies, mechanical steering systems, hydraulic power steering systems and crane/hoist/winch assemblies.
McCleery is the son of Mike and Darlene McCleery, Eudora. He graduated from Eudora High School in 2005.
Douglas County is commemorating the 100th year of Kansas 4-H during the Douglas County Fair.
The Douglas County 4-H Council and the Douglas County 4-H Foundation invite former 4-H'ers to join in the celebration, which will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday at the fairgrounds picnic shelters. Alumni will be able to write favorite 4-H memories on a timeline while enjoying cake and ice cream. There will also be former 4-H'ers recounting special memories from past decades.
The foundation encourages alumni to send current addresses to the Douglas County Extension Office, 2110 Harper Street, Lawrence 66046-3242 or complete the information card at the fair so the alumni database can be updated.
Moore to visit
During the upcoming congressional recess, Rep. Dennis Moore has scheduled three community office hour sessions to hear views and concerns from constituents from the 3rd District. The sessions will be:
- From 5 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 14 at the West Wyandotte Library, 1737 N. 82nd St., Kansas City, Kan.
- From 4 to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at Eudora City Hall, 4 E. Seventh St., Eudora.
- From 3:30 to 5 p.m. Aug. 16 at Olathe Public Library, 12900 S. Black Bob, Olathe.
