Pinecrest News

August 3, 2006

There will not be an August birthday party because new tile is being installed in the clubhouse Aug. 10 and 11.

The potluck dinner will be at noon Aug. 19 in Pinecrest II clubroom.

  • Clarice Morriss was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Friday.

  • Gertrude Coon was taken to Heritage Nursing Center in Baldwin City for several days.

  • Harold and Alma Sisk had his two sons visit them the past weekend. Glen lives in Colorado Springs and Richard lives in Erie, Colo.

  • Tillie Bichelmeyer, Emma Jean Taylor, Valerie Richardson, Jan Kelly, Overland Park, and Julia Polfer and Ellen Moll, both of Olathe, went out for lunch Tuesday. Afterward, they played pinochle at the home of Valerie Richardson.

  • Bertie Morriss visited Clarice Morriss at Lawrence Memorial Hospital Sunday.

  • Bertie Morriss was a dinner guest Sunday evening of her daughter and son-in-law Merlene and Price McCormick. Other guests were Kevin and Anna McCormick, Lawrence, Travis and Brandi McCormick and Jace, and Kurtis and Misty McCormick and children Kasi and Kurtis.

  • I was a dinner guest Monday evening of my daughter and son-in-law Sharon and LaVerne Musick. The occasion was my great-great-granddaughter Aftyn Hankins' fifth birthday.

Other guests were Robert and Anita Musick, Tiffany Musick, Jeremiah Smith, Kevin and Marcia Roberts and Allysa, Rick and Nick Steffen, Mesa, Ariz., Donald Musick, Randy Roussello, Aftyn's mother, Autumn, and her sister Trinity and brother Duncan.

A three-tiered birthday cake, baked and decorated by her mother, was served with ice cream after the dinner to other guests -- Kevin and Tammy Hilker and daughters Brandi, Jace and Terri.

Afterward, we all went to the Roberts' to swim. Aftyn showed us how she could run and jump off the diving board into 11 feet of water and swim underwater halfway the length of the pool.

  • Aftyn Hankins entertained her friends, cousins and sister to a little girl dress-up party Saturday morning. Guests were Allison and Emily Taylor, Baldwin City, Allysa and Abby Roberts, Ashylon Dikat and Trinity Hankins. Others enjoying the party were her mother Autumn Musick, grandmother Anita Musick, great-grandmother Sharon Musick and myself, her great-great-grandmother.

The girls dressed up in long dresses, high heels, tiaras, beads, bracelets, earrings and rings and paraded around for us.

After lunch, they were served ice cream and birthday cake baked by Aftyn's grandmother Sharon and decorated by her mother.
