Meeting takes place
Members of the Eudora United Methodist Women group had its general meeting Aug. 9. Breakfast, consisting of fruit, rolls, quiche, coffee, tea and juice, was served by Kay Byrne and Peggy Claggett of the Sarah Circle. About 25 members attended.
United Methodist Women president Elva Kindred opened the business meeting and asked Susie Dickerson to give a devotional. Kindred asked members to tell about memories of UMW times in the past. Many volunteered with great memories of activities that have been hosted at the church through the years.
The church auction will be at 10 a.m. Saturday inside the church, 703 Church St. The UMW will have a concession stand in the fellowship room. Prices for food were discussed and members were asked to bring pies.
Bertha Nichols was appointed to fill the office of membership nurture and outreach that has been vacant for several months. Kindred reminded members that next month election of officers for 2007 will take place.
Kindred asked for discussion about the guest day in October since there would not be much room to serve guests at the chapel. It was voted to cancel guest day this year until the new church is built.
The meeting adjourned by repeating the United Methodist Women's benediction.
