Services for David Metz, 38, Lawrence, were Tuesday, Aug. 29, at the Fairview Church of the Nazarene in Fairview, Okla., with the Rev. Charles McKinney officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Metz died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, in Eudora.
He was born Feb. 2, 1968, in Fairview, Okla., the son of Jerry Gean and Freda Lavonne Canaday Metz. He graduated from Fairview High School in 1986. He attended Okmulgee Vocational Technical School and studied auto mechanics.
He married Cherie Ann Black on Dec. 18, 1988, in Fairview, Okla.
Mr. Metz worked in the oilfield and lived in Fairview and the surrounding area for several years before moving to Eudora to be close to his longtime friend and companion, Robin Ross.
He worked at Engineered Air as a welder and air conditioner technician for nine years. He then went to work for Tom Marten Construction.
Survivors include two daughters, Kayli Rachelle Metz, Fairview, Okla., and Laura Alexandra Ross, Eudora; his mother, Freda L. Metz, Fairview; a sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Greg Ross, Fairview; a brother, Tim Metz, Fairview; and his grandfather, O.E. Metz, Chickasha, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry G. Metz, a brother, Robin Metz, a nephew, Bo Metz, his maternal grandparents and his paternal grandmother.
