After a brief visit to the realm of back-to-back losses, the Eudora boys swung the pendulum the other direction, making it three-straight wins by hanging on for a 56-51 victory over Louisburg Friday at Eudora High School. The Cardinals (9-3) opened the night with a blistering fireworks display from the field, which had the Wildcats reeling from the start.
Girls fall short in Top Gun tourney

For the second-straight year, the Eudora girls basketball team took home the second-place trophy in the Wellsville Top Gun Tournament. The Cardinals fell behind early Saturday and couldn’t quite turn a fourth-quarter rally into a win as they fell to Baldwin in the tournament finals, 33-30.
Long trip pays off for wrestlers

It was a long bus ride to last weekend’s Concordia Dual Tournament for the Eudora Cardinal wrestling team, almost four hours on a bus over two different stretches of Kansas highways.

We need an after-school place for the kids in Eudora to go to like a recreation center. The city could build one or turn the old middle school into one. It is time for people that live in Eudora to have a place to work out and play basketball.

Unfortunately, for many of us here in the Midwest, it was a non-event. Being a part of this celebration is an exhilarating experience. The color red is elegantly used is every way possible.
Turnpike proposal good for Eudora with qualifications

The Eudora City Council has endorsed a proposal to install a new interchange on the the Kansas Turnpike south of Tonganoxie. In doing so, it joined the Douglas County Commission in supporting the Tonganoxie City County and Leavenworth County Comimission’s efforts to secure federal funds for the interchanges and the widening of Leavenworth County Road 1 and Douglas County Road 1061.

Austin Vickers wanted the word “pomegranate” back. With it, the seventh-grader would have had a chance to win the Eudora Middle School spelling bee outright Jan. 25. But after both he and his final opponent, sixth-grader Kate Dennis, misspelled it, the end was far from decided.
